Keeping Business As Usual with Wasabi Direct Connect
Wasabi offers a private Direct Connect service comparable to Ethernet Private Line (EPL) as well as a hosted connection option known as a virtual cross connect. Wasabi Direct Connect (WDX) provides a customer with a private alternative way of connecting to Wasabi versus using the public internet. Not only is it more reliable, Wasabi Direct Connect is delivered to add extra protection for your data. Sending data to Wasabi through a private connection adds another level of assurance that your data is secure in transit and at rest. Some compliance requirements may include the need for a private connection to ensure transit security. This service can be delivered from a customer’s data source (private or cloud) in a number of different network architectures along with the choice of cloud service provider that Wasabi supports.

Establishing Wasabi Direct Connect
Wasabi Direct Connect is a high-speed, private, secure connection from your on-premises data center or colocation site directly to Wasabi. Wasabi Direct Connect is ideal for customers seeking direct, secure and high-bandwidth connectivity with fixed monthly transport pricing.
Wasabi currently offers the the following Direct Connect options:
- Wasabi Direct Connect (WDX) – A direct connect service provisioned from customer’s data center to one of the Wasabi data centers. 1 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s speeds
- Public/Private Cloud hosted Direct Connect (VXC) – A direct connect service provisioned from the customer’s data center to a cloud provider network to one of the Wasabi data centers over that same cloud provider. Speeds up to 10 Gb/s.
Additionally, Wasabi supports direct connect services that allow a customer to connect their cloud providers storage service to one of Wasabi’s data centers. This service provides the L2/L3 transport service for data migration from one cloud storage provider to Wasabi applying our supported migration tools.

Predictable Pricing for Performance
Customers migrating from on-premises to cloud storage often have a clear understanding of how much data they need to store, but not necessarily on how often their data will need to be accessed. Data downloads are not something they’ve had to consider with on-premises storage, so they’ve never had reason to measure it. However, most cloud storage providers charge a fee (egress/access fee) every time the customer accesses their data. This makes it difficult to predict your monthly bill because it will vary depending upon how often you download your data. Wasabi customers are not charged for data retrieval or egress. When an organization wants to migrate from another cloud, such as AWS to Wasabi over the public internet, in almost all cases the egress charges with a private connection were half of what they would be with the public internet.
With Wasabi Direct Connect, customers pay a fixed monthly port speed rate (based on the type of port speed chosen: 1 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s), removing the variability of performance when using a public internet connection for ingress and egress to their data.
